We are seeking a teacher who is passionate about teaching French to join a successful, friendly and collaborative department. We are willing to discuss applications from both full and part time applicants.
French is compulsory subject for all at KS3 and most at KS4, with a strong pass rate at both GCSE and A level and the school really values the place that MFL holds in the curriculum. We are also proud of the wider opportunities we are able to give our students, including several trips to France and events closer to home within the school community. The MFL department has a set of tablets which can be booked by staff and are generally used around once a fortnight with all language classes. We use these to enhance students’ learning and have access to various paid online resources including Active Learn / Active Hub (KS4) and Language Gym, as well as numerous other tried and tested ones including Quizlet, Kahoot, Blooket, Duolingo and Seneca. We believe that good teaching, using a variety of appropriate strategies, supports both behaviour and interest, and have reformed our KS3 teaching in recent years following EPI principles, and this has improved engagement and students’ ability to produce and retain accurate French.
We value the professional development of the teachers within the department and encourage colleagues to get involved with trips, extra-curricular activities, year eleven interventions and other activities. All staff are supported through the line-management system and the school has a well-respected induction programme for new staff.
