SENCO P/T 3 days a week
Tillingbourne Junior School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated SENCO to lead and develop our inclusive provision and special educational needs (SEND) strategy. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to make a significant impact on the educational experience of children with SEND at our school. As SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic development of SEND provision, ensuring all pupils with SEND are supported to achieve their fullest potential. You will work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to design, implement, and monitor SEND policies and interventions, creating a culture of inclusion where every child is given the best opportunity to thrive.'
Key Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, the SENCO will:
- Lead the strategic development of SEND policy and provision across the school, ensuring our approach reflects current research and best practice to deliver outstanding outcomes for children with SEND.
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy, ensuring all provision is tailored to meet the needs of individual pupils with SEND or disabilities.
- Champion inclusive practices to reduce barriers to learning and ensure children with SEND engage fully in all aspects of their education.
- Develop and deliver research-led interventions, using data and evidence-based strategies to maximise progress and achievement for SEND pupils.
- Provide high-quality professional guidance to all school staff, supporting their understanding of SEND needs and effective strategies for supporting pupils in the classroom.
- Work in close partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to meeting the needs of SEND pupils.
- The SENCO may also be required to undertake teaching responsibilities, as appropriate.
Job Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- National award for special educational needs co-ordinator (NASENCO) or willingness to complete within 3 years of starting the job
- Proven experience in team leadership and the implementation of SEND policies
- A sound knowledge of child safeguarding procedures and the legal framework for SEND provision
- Strong analytical skills to assess and evaluate data, review EHCPs, and develop targeted provision plans for individual pupils
- Ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders, including staff, parents, and external agencies
- A passion for supporting children with SEND and a commitment to delivering inclusive education that fosters high aspirations for all pupils.
