Welcome

At Tile Cross Academy we care deeply for our students; their safety and well-being is our primary concern. Within our small and caring 11-16 school we develop and nurture the values, skills and attributes which create good citizens and lifelong learners. We aim to prepare our pupils to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing society, ready and willing to grasp the opportunities available to them.

About Us

Tile Cross Academy is the ideal environment in which to stimulate the minds of the next generation. It is a special place where both students and staff feel a real sense of belonging, with relationships at the heart of everything we do. With the wide range of backgrounds and cultures represented in our school community we believe that we offer an educational experience like no other in our area. We celebrate diversity and difference, whilst acknowledging that we are all equal. We value everyone’s opinions and beliefs, whilst also encouraging every single child to achieve their very best.

Tile Cross Academy opened in May 2017 as part of the Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust (please see the Trust website via the WHMAT link above). It sits on a site once occupied by Central Grammar School for boys, Byng Kenrick Grammar School for Girls, Sir Wilfred Martineau School and The International School. Our new school sits at the very heart of its community with a proud and distinguished heritage and an exciting and successful future ahead of it.

Mission Statement

"Washwood Heath Multi-Academy Trust (WHMAT) is a strong, successful schools partnership with a passion for and love of learning and the drive and motivation to succeed"

Currently we are a family of 7 schools (3 Secondary and 4 Primary). ‘We are stronger working together in partnership’ is the underlying principle and moral purpose of the WHMAT. We are a family of schools serving a discrete community within this great city of Birmingham. The schools are fully inclusive and serve a very rich and diverse community of cultures and faiths. Each of the schools is unique in its own identity but the strong links between the schools has enabled high quality collaboration to ensure the continued successes of everyone in the partnership.
