The Market Bosworth School is seeking to appoint an inspirational Teacher to join our experienced Computing, Media & Business Studies Department. The successful candidate will play a key role in the success of the department and the school.

The Market Bosworth School is very proud of its students and staff. We have excellent academic standards and work hard to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all. We have been rated as an “Outstanding” school by Ofsted 3 times in 2009, 2012 and most recently in 2018, where inspectors commented “A sense of care and nurture permeates the school”. We are proud to be a single academy trust. In 2022, we were named as a Lead School for the DFE Behaviour Hub programme.

Our Computing, Media & Business Studies Department is very strong, helping our students achieve amazing KS4 results across 4 different subjects. The average GCSE progress made within the department over the last two years has been +0.79.

The department contributes to both KS3 and KS4 within a range of subjects. All students have timetabled Computing lessons at Key Stage 3, which are integral to their wider learning at TMBS and serve as a platform for their KS4 choices. At KS4 there is the option for the students to take GCSE Computer Science (OCR), GCSE Media Studies (Eduqas) and either GCSE Business Studies (OCR) or Enterprise and Marketing (Cambridge National OCR). Group sizes at KS4 vary each year due to the optional choices students take. Current year 11 class sizes within the department average 18 students, but range from 13 to 26. There are six computer rooms across the school where the majority of the teaching takes place. Timetabling is carefully planned and each member of staff will usually complete all of their teaching in one room to reduce the need for staff movement.

Computing, Media and Business has developed significantly over the last few years with the introduction of:

• A developed curriculum of Computational Thinking at Key Stage 3 covering the 3 strands of Computing - Digital Literacy, Information Technology and Computer Science.

• Within business we have also adopted Vocational courses to suit all learners at KS4 using the current business climate to support real life learning.

• Additionally we pride ourselves on offering a range of opportunities that support Post 16 choices and preparing students for the world of work

The successful candidate will be required to teach Computer Science / Computing at KS4 & KS3. There may also be the opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to either Media or Business Studies, however this is not a requirement for the post.

Safeguarding Statement:

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to behave in such a way that supports this commitment. The recruitment process is robust in seeking to establish the commitment of candidates to support the school’s measures to safeguard children and to identify, deter or reject people who might pose a risk of harm to children or are otherwise unsuited to work with them. As this post is required to work in “Regulated Activity” an enhanced DBS with a Barred list check is essential. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children (KCSIE 2023). Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. All applications will be considered on their merit and the post will be offered subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, which will include online media checks for shortlisted candidates. Please see the school website for further information regarding safeguarding and safer recruitment checks. https://www.tmbs.leics.sch.uk/docs/policies/Child_Protection___Child_Safeguarding_Policy_.pdf
