The Market Bosworth School is seeking to appoint an inspirational Teacher to join our experienced Creative Arts and Design Technology department. The successful candidate will play a key role in the success of the department and the school. This is an additional post within the department, therefore applications from candidates with a background in any area of Design Technology or the wider Creative Arts are welcome.

The Market Bosworth School is very proud of its students and staff. We have excellent academic standards and work hard to create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all. We have been rated as an “Outstanding” school by Ofsted 3 times in 2009, 2012 and most recently in 2018, where inspectors commented “A sense of care and nurture permeates the school”. We are proud to be a single academy trust. In 2022, we were named as a Lead School for the DFE Behaviour Hub programme.

Our Creative Arts and Design and Technology department is very strong, helping our students achieve amazing results across eight different subjects. In the last year of published results (2023), 89.5% of the GCSEs gained were at grade 4 or above and 70.5% were at grade 5 or above.

The Market Bosworth School is incredibly successful; a fantastic place to teach and learn. Creative Arts and Design and Technology plays a huge part in that success. This post is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher to join our dynamic staff team. The successful candidate will be joining us at an exciting stage in our development. The department currently offer the following GCSE level options at KS4:

  • GCSE Resistant Materials
  • GCSE Graphics
  • Level 2 Hospitality & Catering
  • GCSE Textiles
  • GCSE Art
  • GCSE Drama
  • GCSE Dance
  • GCSE Music

Teaching Creative Arts and Design Technology at The Market Bosworth School will involve teaching motivated students in smaller than average size groups. The successful candidate will be an additional member of staff, giving the department additional capacity. The ability to teach in multiple areas across the department would be an advantage.

The last three years of GCSE results have been exceptional, with whole school progress figures of 0.80, 0.65 and 0.98 and 0.75 in years 2018, 2019, 2022 & 2023 respectively. Our inclusive and caring ethos means that every single student achieves to a high standard.

During their time at The Market Bosworth School, KS3 students study a broad range of creative subjects; they currently rotate within the following: Food Technology, Resistant Materials, Graphics and Textiles. In these subjects they have four lessons across a two week timetable. In Music, Drama and Art, students generally have 2 lessons across a two week timetable in each subject, whilst Dance is currently covered within the PE curriculum. For KS4, many opt to take GCSEs in these subjects with Level 2 VCert in Hospitality and Catering and GCSE Dance also available. Subjects offered within this department are a popular choice with students at KS4.

Safeguarding Statement:

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to behave in such a way that supports this commitment. The recruitment process is robust in seeking to establish the commitment of candidates to support the school’s measures to safeguard children and to identify, deter or reject people who might pose a risk of harm to children or are otherwise unsuited to work with them. As this post is required to work in “Regulated Activity” an enhanced DBS with a Barred list check is essential. It is an offence to apply for the role if the applicant is barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children (KCSIE 2023). Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration of their criminal record or information that would make them unsuitable to work with children. All applications will be considered on their merit and the post will be offered subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, which will include online media checks for shortlisted candidates.
