About Us
The Nicholas Hamond Academy or 'TNHA', is an aspirational 11 - 18 school. Our students are awesome, the staff passionate and the parents supportive. Together we are 'One Team', "determined to be the best that we can be".
It is a privilege to be the Principal of The Nicholas Hamond Academy. It is a huge responsibility but also the most fantastic job in the world to be able to work with the young people who come through our doors each day and help them fulfil their potential.
It is mine and my colleagues’ responsibility to provide our students with the best possible educational experience that we can and every day we continue to strive to do this. I want our learners to be motivated, enthused and, most importantly, inspired by the experience they have with us whilst helping them to develop all the skills that they need to be successful in their futures. I want our students to achieve and I want them to be successful and by creating an environment in which they can flourish I am certain that our students will have many successes during the time that they spend with us.
I know our students are capable of many fantastic things and being able to provide them the platform from which to do this is what we continually endeavour to do at TNHA so that our young people can have the most amazing futures.

Our team knows first-hand how to make education better for schools, pupils and their teachers.
For us, the future of UK education relies upon schools working closely together to share best practices, giving every child the best chance in life. We set up ATT to make this vision a reality.

Our values
We are:
We will work inclusively within our communities, embracing the varied localities we serve while sharing our common vision and values.
We will develop the very best leaders of the future, working to improve education and transform lives.
We will adhere unwaveringly to the ‘Nolan Principles’ of Public Service, which is made clear in our commitment to Ethical Leadership.
Our ‘Institute’ is an umbrella term for all people development available to all ATT stakeholders. It serves our whole ATT community: children and young people, parents and carers, employees and the wider community.
We are committed to the very best people development. We empower all stakeholders through equality of opportunity and place the needs of our stakeholders and the communities we serve at the front and centre of all we do. We believe we are better together and value collaboration within and beyond our organisation. ATT People Development activities will be the very best learning our stakeholders have ever had. Through high-quality people development we will all transform lives and communities.
Our Institute is a learning eco-system through which all people within our communities and beyond can thrive. It starts with the belief that we are all leaders of our eco-system. Leadership does not just come from the top; it has to be genuinely stakeholder-led. Irrespective of our role: admin, education, estates, finance, governance and operations, we all have a responsibility to make things better for children and young people and to help ensure that teachers are delivering a top drawer education. Thus, we have a professional obligation to keep getting better through engagement in people development activities so that the ‘edge’ between schools and communities, where educators work with pupils, parents and carers and communities is the best it can possibly be.
We resolutely believe it is our moral and professional imperative to hear all voices and use our own agency to develop others within and beyond our Trust. ATT employees must use their local leadership to develop and lead others beyond their immediate setting and beyond our own Institute. The advancement of our Institute in this way, will lead to whole of system improvement and transform more lives and more communities.
Flexible working gives employees the opportunity to achieve a better balance between work and other commitments, often by making small changes to working patterns and hours. Managers will make every effort to appreciate an employee's needs such as family responsibilities, work and caring responsibilities and be flexible as possible to try and accommodate their required working hours.
At Academy Transformation Trust we put our people's welfare and wellbeing at the centre of everything. Our Wellbeing Strategy covers 4 key areas: Working Environment, Personal Growth, Health and Lifestyle Initiatives and Culture. We aim to promote and maintain the health & wellbeing of employees, with the goal being to enable a positive relationship between an employee's work and their health.

Access to free confidential help & advice available to employees 24 hours a day, every day.
Access to our ‘inhouse’ Wellbeing Champions to offer support as necessary

I started working for TNHA and ATT in September 2021. I knew I had found a good place to be. Everyone was so welcoming and went out of their way to get to know me. I have been provided with opportunities to expand my knowledge and be creative. There is a strong team, everyone works together and wants to see each other succeed just as much as they want to personally. I am proud to be part of TNHA.
Micka Singh - Safeguarding Manager
Working at TNHA you quickly learn that a word that gets used a lot is TEAM. We are a small school so we need to work closely with each other. I am a member of multiple teams. I start my day with a cup of tea and a chat with the site team and cleaners. My day begins in earnest on duty at the gates, meeting and greeting the students and staff as they arrive. In my role as a form tutor it is my job to set the tone for the day for my tutees and ensure they are ready to face the day ahead. Then I head over to the drama studio for my lessons. My favourite part of the job is working with the students and developing their creativity and confidence. I then end the day in meetings with my Creative Arts Team, or with Heads of Faculty or other middle leaders. This is our opportunity to plan, learn and improve the experiences for our students.
TNHA and ATT recognise and value everybody in the Academy. There are numerous and regular opportunities for professional development, meetings and line management alongside well-being leaders.
Steve Hatfield - Director of Creative Arts
The training and support that we were able to access during the lockdown period were fantastic. Using Microsoft Teams effectively and efficiently was challenging. Through the remote learning CPD that was provided, I felt that I was able to better navigate Teams more successfully and became better equipped at dealing with issues that occurred frequently. The amount of time that our leaders must have spent checking how things work on Teams must have been enormous. The result was that I felt empowered and enabled by the sessions
