Expressive Arts team is a vibrant, collaborative faculty of dedicated specialists committed to nurturing the creative, cultural, and personal development of every learner. We work closely across Music, Drama, Media, and Art to create an inclusive environment where pupils are inspired to explore their talents and achieve their full potential.

Music is delivered as a discrete subject throughout Key Stage 3, following the principles of the Curriculum for Wales. Lessons take place in well‑equipped, modern facilities that encourage creativity, performance, and experimentation.

At Key Stage 4, Music continues to be a popular option, with approximately 19 pupils in Year 10 and 12 pupils in Year 11. The Expressive Arts faculty works to a shared vision, with schemes of learning that follow common themes across Music, Drama, Media, and Art. This collaborative approach ensures coherence, creativity, and a rich learning experience for all pupils.

We have high expectations for staff to contribute to our extensive extra‑curricular programme, which is central to the life of the school. The faculty delivers an annual whole‑school production involving over 100 pupils, with Music, Drama, Media, and Art teachers working seamlessly together to create a truly collaborative expressive arts experience. The Music department also plays a key role in community events, concerts, and celebrations that showcase the talents of our learners and strengthen our links beyond the school.

Within our Expressive Arts Area of Learning and Experience (AoLE), staff share a wealth of expertise and best practice. Collaboration, professional dialogue, and creative innovation are at the heart of our work. New staff benefit from a comprehensive induction programme, including a dedicated mentor and tailored support to meet individual needs.

The successful candidate will contribute to the ongoing development of the Music curriculum and the wider Expressive Arts AoLE. At Croesyceiliog, our ethos of ‘Learning, Respect and Ambition’ underpins everything we do, inspiring pupils to thrive academically, artistically, and personally. For staff, we offer a positive working environment, opportunities for professional growth, a strong team culture, and recognition for excellence.
