Thank you for your interest in applying for the position of Hwb Teaching Assistant at Abersychan School. This is an exciting opportunity to join the school as it widens its provision to support students with additional learning needs, particularly those with social, emotional and behavioural and needs. Abersychan School recently secured a partnership with our local Noddfa Church, in the development of our offsite $ùHwb&© provision, to improve educational experiences for a small group of students from in years 9, 10 and 11.
Abersychan School is an 11 $ú 16 co-educational comprehensive school which meets the needs of children of all abilities. We are a school that is committed to ensuring that all our young people are happy, successful and ready for their lives beyond school. Our expectations and standards are high. We have a highly committed and caring staff who are dedicated to ensuring each child achieves their personal best. The school currently has 770 students, 50 teachers and 58 members of support staff. The school serves an area of significant socio-economic deprivation with 32% of students entitled to FSM and 51% of students living in the 20% most deprived areas of Wales.
The aims of the school are delivered through a strong pastoral system, a commitment to providing high quality learning experiences and an extensive range of sporting, cultural, musical and extracurricular activities. The students are happy, hard-working and positive about the school. They genuinely are an asset to our community and are incredibly friendly.
