Art & DT Technician
Maternity Cover (between 6 – 35 weeks)

Salary range: £17,842 - £18,562 pa pro rata
Actual Salary £13,509 – £ 14,054
33 hours per week / 39 working weeks per year
Under the supervision and control of the technician/curriculum leader the successful candidate is to provide assistance and support in the specialist areas of Art and Design Technology.
To prepare resources for practical lessons that meet both the health and safety standards and requirements of the classes involved. The successful candidate will be based in the busy faculty of Art and Design Technology where their duties will change due to the demands of the timetable. The main areas that will need support are in Art- clay work, firing and maintaining the kiln, preparing resources and materials. Assisting in Design Technology and the GCSE specifications, this may involve setting up materials for the Laser Cutting area and assisting in displays and exhibitions. The role may also involve supporting individual or small groups of students on specific practical tasks under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
The successful candidate should be:
• Flexible, the role may change due to timetable demands.
• Able to work as part of a team of staff and technicians.
• Confident in preparing clay materials and firing ceramics.
• Have some knowledge of Design Technology- CAD/Laser Cutters and ICT packages that are used in schools i.e. Photoshop.
• A ‘can-do’ attitude to support students and staff.
