Curriculum Leader of History
Full time – Permanent Post from September 2023
TLR 2L - £3,215
We are seeking an ambitious and talented individual as the curriculum leader of History who will lead Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level in this subject. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, dynamic and committed leader to join the middle level leadership team at the College, who is highly motivated and an excellent classroom practitioner and able to drive outcomes for learners.
Our whole College motto is "inspiring optimistic learners" and a key aspect of this is ensuring that every student knows that we believe in their capacity to succeed. At Torpoint Community College, we consider it to be essential to implement an effectively sequenced curriculum that empowers students with the knowledge and understanding that will equip them for their chosen lives ahead. Our intent is to provide a curriculum that enables students and staff to build on their knowledge and understanding, resulting in a “deep sequenced learning experience” for all throughout a seven-year narrative. Every subject is therefore planned to ensure that knowledge is taught to be learned - not merely encountered. Key Stage 3 is not considered as a conveyor belt to GCSE, but an opportunity for students to master aspects of the subject discipline through experiencing high quality explanations, plenty of time dedicated to practice and lots of opportunities to retrieve and review.
The College was inspected by Ofsted in July 2022, and we achieved our third consecutive “good” judgement. We are proud of our report and the recognition of the positive experience we provide for young people. The successful candidate for this post will have a commitment to maintaining consistently high standards, and a proactive approach to ensuring the best possible outcomes for students. The successful candidate will play an integral role in driving the College priorities so will need to be aligned with the College Improvement Plan and our key principles.
By working at Torpoint Community College you will be joining a very friendly and professional team, in a lovely location in the forgotten corner of South East Cornwall which has a stunning landscape of tidal creeks, sandy beaches and farmland. The College sits amongst its own well-maintained grounds, there is free parking and there are ample opportunities to participate in a range of staff wellbeing activities and events.
Further details are available from the Headteacher, or Jo Jones, HR Manager, or from the College website.
Closing date: 20th February 2023
Interview date: Week Commencing 6th March 2023
The post is subject to a Prohibition Check and an enhanced DBS check. TCC is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
