We are looking to recruit a confident, committed and inspirational pastoral leader to lead a year group at the College. This role will require the successful candidate to regularly liaise with curriculum leaders, tutors, the Behaviour Support Team, Student Support Centre staff, the SENDCo, parents and carers, senior leaders, external agencies as well as other heads of year.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be confident in managing complex and challenging situations, have the ability to remain calm and rational, be proactive and confident in applying their own initiative and must also be able to work effectively within a team as well as an individual.

As Head of Year you will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to putting students first in all aspects of your work. A high level of emotional intelligence and a professional approach to working is essential, particularly with staff, students and parents. You must have the skill and ability to use available data to improve standards for our students and a willingness to adapt to new targets and approaches as the dynamics of the environment change. You will have a passion for addressing social and emotional needs of all students, but especially those with different needs, and be creative in introducing changes that improve their outcomes. Excellent organisation skills are essential to effectively fulfil this role, and you must be fully committed to meeting the College’s expectations in this highly demanding role.

The Head of Year role provides an opportunity for outstanding candidates from a range of backgrounds to have a highly influential and impactful position within our pastoral team. Although this is not a teaching position, we welcome applications from former teachers, education support staff or any other sector where the individual holds the requisite skill set and experience.

In return, you will be joining a friendly team of staff in a lovely location on a site that sits amongst its own well-maintained grounds. You will be enrolled onto the Local Government Pension Scheme, receive annual pay increments (until you reach the highest pay scale) in addition to the national cost of living pay award, have access to free parking and be able to participate in a range of staff wellbeing activities and events.

If, having read the job description and person specification, you are interested in applying for this position, please complete the application form via our website. If you would like to know more about the Head of Year role, or come for a tour at the College, please contact our HR Manager, Mrs Jo Jones, by either phone or e-mail.

Closing date: noon 28th March 2025

Interviews: w/c 1st April 2025
