Lecturer in Engineering: Mechatronics Maintenance, Minerals / Food & Drink (Bodmin)

£33,723 - £42,215 per annum*

We are one of the highest performing colleges nationally on all courses at all levels, rated Ofsted ‘Outstanding’ for apprenticeships.

The college works very closely with the Cornwall Manufacturing Group in developing the future workforce and upskilling existing employees.

Exciting future opportunities exist to work closely with the new engineering sectors in Cornwall in Offshore Wind Technology, Lithium Extraction and the Food & Drink industry.

The Engineering department is located in the state of the art STEM & Health Skills Centre building Bodmin. Included within is a large open workshop with a significant range of industry standard equipment, a specific welding facility, CAD studio, Electronics room, Mechatronics lab & general teaching rooms.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed lecturer with the ability to inspire students and maintain excellent working relationships in a very successful Engineering team. A willingness to support students pastorally is essential, as is being adaptable and flexible in a dynamic working environment.

Fractional contract options are available which would allow the opportunity to combine a new lecturing role whilst continuing employment in industry.

The ideal candidate should work with confidence with a wide variety of ability levels, be a committed team member and project an enthusiasm for their subject. The successful applicant will be expected to provide high quality teaching on education programmes, and to contribute to providing an outstanding learning experience for our students.

We aim to find an engineering lecturer with a mechanical and industrial electrical and/or electronic maintenance background to include hydraulics and pneumatics, PLC’s and robotic systems. Food & Drink maintenance industry experience would also be desirable. Applicants should hold a recognised level 3 apprenticeship in maintenance operations, or equivalent and ideally a recognised teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one. A level 4 HNC or equivalent would also be desirable.

As well as teaching, the successful candidate is likely to have responsibility for a tutor group. A commitment to curriculum development and a flexible approach to teaching and learning are required.

*Salary as advertised is based on a qualified lecturer. Non-qualified applicants will be considered but will be paid on a non-qualified lecturer scale.

We offer a generous package with benefits including 40 days annual leave plus bank holidays and College closure days, teacher pension scheme, relocation package, free on-site parking and a variety of on-site benefits and discounts.

CLOSING DATE: 5PM FRIDAY 11 JULY 2025

Curriculum Vitae are not accepted, Application Forms only.

Successful candidates will be notified within 4 weeks of the closing date.
