Our students UCG attracts students from across London and beyond. Our students come from a diverse range of backgrounds. In the academic year 2022-23, we enrolled more than 3500 full time 16-18 students, 8,000 adult learners and over 450 apprentices across our Group. UCG currently enrol 250+ HE students per year, across 4 campuses onto 12 courses from STEM subjects (Science, Construction, Engineering, and Computing) to Business, Music and Professional Qualifications.

We have around 1,000 dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic staff who always put the needs of our students first and we are now looking for a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair to join our cohort of dedicated staff.

UCG has an industry standard fully equipped motor vehicle workshop located at our City of Westminster College Campus in Paddington Green where our students learn from lecturers with industry experience. With additional designated teaching rooms and IT labs the motor vehicle curriculum area is well resourced to deliver a first-class learning experience with a balanced mix of theory and practical.

About You

We are looking for an experienced light vehicle technician to join our team and support the teaching of full-time and part-time automotive engineering programmes, covering all typical light vehicle maintenance and repair areas.

As a lecturer and course tutor you will be responsible for developing and preparing materials for learning and teaching and assessment across a range of both theory and practical subjects from Level 1 to 3. 

Candidates should hold as minimum a Level 3 motor trade qualification. You will also have practical industrial experience in the automotive sector and be familiar with techniques and processes used in the repair of modern vehicles ideally including EV and Hybrid vehicles. 

As a Lecturer in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, you will develop and maintain up to date industry knowledge, bringing in industry professionals, where possible, that are relevant to the curriculum and the skills needs of students. You will support and motivate learners to meet their individual aspirations and goals and will coordinate the tracking of learners’ achievements. In your role you will lead full-time study programmes to attain outstanding student retention, achievement and progression.  In addition, you should be a well-motivated, self-starter with good communication skills who is able to work effectively within a team.

We welcome applications from candidates with industry experience who are ready to move into Further Education. If the successful candidate does not have one already the role will require the willingness to work towards a recognised teaching qualification delivered in-house at UCG.
