Teacher of History
Full-time – from January 2021 (or earlier if possible)
Temporary to cover maternity leave – expected to end July 2021
The Directors of Uffculme Academy Trust are seeking to appoint a temporary Teacher of History to join our Outstanding School starting January 2021 (or earlier if possible). This vacancy would be suitable both for particularly for NQTs and RQTs but more experienced teachers would also be welcome to apply.
Uffculme is a flourishing, popular, high performing Academy located on the beautiful Devon/Somerset border with easy motorway access to the regional centres of Taunton and Exeter. The February 2014 Ofsted inspection classed the Academy as ‘outstanding’. Uffculme is fully comprehensive and committed to inclusion. Last year our Progress 8 score was 0.7 with the disadvantaged achieving 0.3 maintaining our track-record as being one of the highest performing non-selective schools in the country. Consequently we have received many national awards and accolades over recent times to recognise the quality of the education provided here at Uffculme.
Within this context, History is one of the flagship departments – consistently achieving higher than the school average. And it is a highly valued subject with a high take up of students at GCSE.
Whilst our examination results speak for themselves they don’t tell the whole story. They are based on a culture of high expectations; exceptional levels of student participation and active involvement in the life of the school; and great relationships between staff and students. We make no apologies for wanting it all as a school: happy staff, happy students, outstanding results, amazing opportunities and a culture which rewards and values success in all its forms.
If this sounds like the sort of school you would like to be a part of, and you are, or have the potential to be an outstanding teacher who will inspire a keen interest in History amongst your students, then please get in touch to find out more. For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Mrs Caroline Hayes, Head of History - see attached advert for contact details.
Uffculme School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
