Welcome to Uffculme Academy Trust

Uffculme Academy Trust is a multi academy trust (MAT) working across Devon and Somerset. It was born of the partnership between Uffculme Secondary School, an outstanding 11-16 comprehensive, and Uffculme Primary School, which is the nearest and biggest of the secondary school's eight feeder schools. In September 2019 Holyrood Academy and Axe Valley Academy joined the Trust.

The history of Uffculme Academy Trust

The founding school of Uffculme Academy Trust (the Trust), Uffculme Secondary School, was a successful, high performing school with an outstanding Ofsted rating for many years. The school became a Grant Maintained (GM) school in 1993 and transferred to a Foundation school in 1998 when GM schools were abolished. When the opportunity arose for outstanding schools to convert to Academy status in 2010, Uffculme was one of the first schools to do so.

This history of independence from the local authority, whilst maintaining strong collaboration with it, informed the ethos of Uffculme School, the Academy which it became and, in 2013, the Uffculme Academy Trust which grew from it to include Uffculme Primary School. The Trust's support for Uffculme Primary School enabled substantial school improvement to change from an undersubscribed to an oversubscribed school in less than two years and to achieve impressive KS2 results in 2017.

In September 2019 Holyrood Academy and Axe Valley Academy joined the Trust with a wealth of experience in working with students from age 11 to 18 and bring to the Trust opportunities to share knowledge and experience across all the schools within the Trust.

The Trust is a single organisation which enables collaboration to improve and maintain high standards in education. It is responsible for the good governance of the schools within it and is accountable for the performance of each school.

The Trust's mission is to provide outstanding educational experiences to all the children and young people who are educated within the Trust.

Our Mission

Uffculme Academy Trust (the Trust) is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) whose mission is to enable effective collaboration and partnerships that will support outstanding educational experiences for the pupils attending each of the Trust’s schools and academies.

Our mission is underpinned by our core beliefs and values that:

  • every child has the right to a high quality education where excellence is the norm
  • teachers have the right to teach free from disruption and distractions, and
  • parents have the right to know that their children are well-cared for, and supported to achieve their best.

The Trust is creating and supporting a network of exceptional schools in which:

  • each school within the Trust sits at the heart of its community
  • aspirations and expectations are high, and achievable, for everyone
  • every pupil makes excellent progress and is enabled to achieve ambitious personal targets
  • trust and mutual respect are at the core of all the relationships across the Trust
  • enrichment is valued, planned for and resourced
  • diversity is welcomed and celebrated
  • pupil and parental engagement is high
  • collaboration and partnerships across the Trust mean that all our staff may apply and develop their skills and experience, and
  • teachers enjoy teaching and pupils enjoy learning.
