We are looking for a passionate, dynamic and inspirational Teacher of Art covering maternity leave to join our outstanding Art department at The Castle School from January 2024. We teach GCSE Photography, Fine Art and Textiles. Our preference is for somebody who can teach both Fine Art and Photography.

We are passionate about the curriculum and there is an intensity around the development of that here. You will be exposed to high level thinking about curriculum and pedagogy. This will prepare you well for future career progression. At The Castle School you will be joining an enthusiastic and hard-working team that includes Art, Drama, Dance, and Music. All students follow a varied Arts curriculum with specialist teachers through key stage 3, and benefit from a fantastic range of extra-curricular opportunities including clubs and groups, music tuition, concerts, plays and musicals including a major school production, a Dance showcase, Variety Show, Community Concert and Art, Photography and Textiles exhibitions. We offer 5 Arts GCSE courses and 2 BTEC Courses and up-take at key stage 4 is excellent. You will need to be able to teach Textiles at GCSE level.

The Arts are valued here for the huge contribution they make to the life of the school and to the learning and wellbeing of our students. The Art department currently has 2 full-time and 2 part time teachers, and there is a part time technician. Art is popular at both key stages, with students progressing to study Fine Art, Photography and Textiles GCSE courses. We have 3 purpose-built art rooms and regular use of a computer suite.
