Undershaw is an outstanding school looking for a Teacher of Art to join our team for a maternity cover.
Undershaw is a specialist setting where children from Year 3 to Post 16 with mild to moderate learning
difficulties and additional needs, such as ASD, cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, and medical vulnerabilities can
access the national curriculum and qualification pathways in a safe, secure, and friendly environment.
We are looking for an Art subject specialist and would welcome applications from Early Career Teachers.
You will have sufficient proven evidence of developing teaching practice and be able to demonstrate that
you can balance academic expectations with the challenge of meeting the needs of SEND students. You will
be passionate about making a difference and preparing students to be socially and economically engaged in
the future.
You will work with the SEND, Pastoral and Therapy teams to assimilate therapeutic support, a proactive
approach to health and wellbeing, social skills, PSHE and protective behaviours into the curriculum and
across school life. All teachers are Form Tutors, and we have regular multi-disciplinary meetings around
students with specialist input, training and support from the Therapy team. We invest significantly in staff
professional development through a weekly extended CPD session delivered by a range of internal and
external colleagues to share and develop pedagogy, SEND expertise and therapeutic strategies. Undershaw
