At the Magna Carta School, we are clear that Learning Shapes Lives and that this must always sit at the heart of everything we do. We work hard to ensure that our students leave at the end of their five years with us not only having gained an excellent set of qualifications to enable them to progress to their chosen next steps, but also having developed into well-rounded, responsible young people who are kind and make good choices.
We are looking to appoint a proactive individual to become part of the school’s pastoral team. The Behaviour Support Assistant plays a key role in supporting the effective management of our Behaviour Policy. The successful individual will be required to build and maintain strong relationships with our students while auctioning our behaviour management systems. They will primarily be based in our Inclusion and Suspension provision for students who have been removed from their lesson following less than expected behaviour, and will ensure that these students are actively engaged in independent learning and reflection. Additionally, the successful candidate will support a senior leader to manage the detention system, ensuring that these are set and registers for each day’s detentions are compiled and completed with non-attendance being escalated as required.
The successfully appointed candidate will:
- Have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Have high expectations of student behaviour and conduct
- Take a flexible and adaptable approach to work, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
- Be able to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines and work independently.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant administrative software/school systems.
- Have a positive attitude, strong initiative and a commitment to teamwork.
This is a good stepping-stone for someone wishing to learn how pastoral systems work in a school or for someone who is looking to progress over time into more specialised pastoral roles. If you are an organised individual who enjoys working in a dynamic environment and making a positive impact, then we strongly encourage you to visit the school for a tour to see us in action and to let us answer any questions you may have about this exciting opportunity.
The Unity Schools Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and other pre-employment check.
Candidates selected for short-listing should be aware that online searches may be done as part of the UST due diligence checks.
