HRUC (Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges) is a highly ambitious merged College Group based across the diverse London boroughs of Harrow, Hillingdon and Richmond upon Thames. With five modern campuses, we support around 16,000 learners.
In this varied role, you would support the academic success of international students as they transition from their home country to undertake education at HRUC at undergraduate level and below.
You would provide personal support through regular guidance, tracking and target setting and referral to other support services. You would provide individual support to students via one-to-one meetings and in groups in workshops/tutorials, contributing to the development of their study skills (e.g. referencing, academic writing, academic integrity, use of learning resources and time management). You will also build effective relationships with academic staff across HRUC to ensure that academic support is implemented consistently across the Group.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and well organised individual who can demonstrate:
• Experience in supporting international students, and good understanding of their needs
• Experience of coaching, one-to-one individual target setting, career and progression planning, and direct support and interventions for students/young people
• Ability to deliver workshops/tutorials
• Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of learners from diverse backgrounds
• Ability to identify potential barriers to learning and engage in strategies to overcome these
• Good organisation and administrative skills
