Role Title: Sports Coach

Weston Green School is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and inspirational Sports Coach to join our school community.
This is an exciting opportunity for an all-round sports coach who enjoys working with children and wants to make a real difference to their sporting experience. We are particularly interested in candidates with strong netball expertise, as developing our netball provision and teams will be an important part of the role.
Purpose of the Role
To deliver high-quality, engaging sports coaching to pupils across our Prep School, helping children develop their skills, confidence and love of sport.
While netball will be a particular focus, we are looking for someone who can confidently coach a range of sports. Depending on experience, these could include football, hockey, athletics, cricket, rounders, tennis and other team and individual sports.
Key Responsibilities
You will also play an important role in preparing pupils for inter-school fixtures, tournaments and competitions, attending these events when required. Some fixtures and tournaments will take place on days outside your usual three-afternoon working pattern.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Coaching netball and developing our school netball teams.
- Coaching a range of other sports across different age groups.
- Preparing pupils for competitive fixtures and tournaments.
- Attending fixtures, tournaments and sports events, including occasional additional days.
- Encouraging participation and helping children of all abilities to develop.
- Identifying and nurturing sporting talent.
- Developing teamwork, resilience, leadership and sportsmanship.
- Creating a positive and inclusive coaching environment.
- Working closely with teachers and colleagues to develop the school’s sporting provision.
- Supporting the organisation of equipment, facilities, fixtures and sporting events.
About you
We are looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about sport and enthusiastic about working with children.
- A strong netball coach, ideally with experience of developing school-aged players and teams.
- Comfortable coaching a variety of sports.
- Able to adapt sessions to different ages, abilities and levels of experience.
- Positive, energetic and encouraging, with the ability to inspire children.
- Organised, reliable and confident managing teams at fixtures and tournaments.
- A strong communicator and team player.
- Competitive and ambitious for pupils, while placing equal importance on enjoyment, inclusion and sportsmanship.
- Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
A recognised coaching qualification would be advantageous, as would experience working in a primary, prep or independent school. A netball coaching qualification and First Aid qualification would also be desirable.
