SEN Teaching Assistant
Start date: As soon as possible
Hours: 23 ¾ Hours per week, term time only (Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 12.00pm)
Salary: Hay 10 (£11,264 - £11,954 per annum)
This is a fixed term post until 31st August 2022 pending EHCP funding
We are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic, calm and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work alongside a child in one of our Year 5 classes. The child concerned has special educational needs.
Ideally, the successful applicant will have experience of supporting a child with ADHD and have an understanding of the complexity of the challenges around emotional regulation, attention difficulties and the impact of adverse childhood experiences. The successful applicant would work with the class teacher and SENCO to personalise the curriculum to meet the individual needs of the child.
Support would be on a 1:1 basis both in the classroom and in shared spaces including outdoors with the aim of improving the learning experience and supporting inclusion with a focus on engagement. The applicant would need to be available for the directed times which are every morning including over the lunchtime session.
The role would require planning of provision in line with individual support plan outcomes in liaison with the class teacher and SENCO and would include; emotional regulation, behaviour management techniques and personalising the curriculum to the child’s interests.
This is a fixed term post subject to funding being approved on a more long term basis.
