SEN Teaching Assistant

Start date: As soon as possible

Hours: 31 1/4 Hours per week, term time only (Monday to Friday, 8.45am - 12.30pm & 1.00pm -3.30pm)

Salary: Hay 10 (£14,821 - £15,729 per annum)

This is a temporary post subject to funding that will end when the funding ceases or the child leaves the school.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, calm and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work alongside a child being educated in reception with a range of complex special educational needs, including speech and language, sensory and social communication difficulties.

Ideally, the successful applicant will have experience of supporting a child with ASD and have an understanding of the complexity of the challenges around limited speech and language skills and social communication whilst working with the class teacher, parents and SENCO to personalise the curriculum to meet the individual needs of the child.

Support would be on a 1:1 basis in the classroom and in managing and supporting the child in groups, with the aim of improving the learning experience and integration into mainstream, learning more effectively and independently. The applicant would need to be available for the directed times of 8.45 -12.30 and 1.00 - 3.30 Monday to Friday throughout term time.

The role would require planning of provision in line with EHCP outcomes in liaison with the class teacher and SENCO and would include; language and communication programmes, sensory diet, behaviour management techniques and personalising the curriculum. A strong candidate would have some skills to contribute to the wider school such as Forest schools
