An opportunity has arisen at William Hulme’s Grammar School (WHGS) to appoint an experienced Data Manager capable of using management information systems, such as Arbor, PowerBI and 4Matrix, to manage a wide range of data sets across all phases of education from 3-18. WHGS is a 3-18 Academy with a long and distinguished history. It is a multi-cultural community that welcomes children from all backgrounds and beliefs and is one of the most over-subscribed schools in Greater Manchester. The school has over 1600 students across the Primary Phase, Secondary Phase and Sixth Form, drawn from the local diverse community.

Reporting to the Assistant Principal (Curriculum), the Data Manager will have responsibility for running a small team and analysing and producing data throughout the year in a number of formats

The Data Manager will also share the line management responsibility of the Data/Exams Assistant and will need to have the ability to prioritise their own work whilst overseeing that of the Assistant. Providing excellent Internal and external customer service is vital and the successful applicant will be able to work under pressure and will possess strong IT, data management, planning and administrative skills, a high level of literacy and numeracy, as well as the ability and confidence to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, at all levels across the whole school.

Following a huge expansion programme, we offer you an impressive and vibrant place to work with professional staff and fantastic students, where your passion for children’s development will be valued and where you will find a genuine commitment to continuing and enhancing your professional development.

The working hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, term time only (plus Inset Days and other occasional days during holiday periods). It is to be expected that some evening work may be required as an integral part of the role, e.g. parents’ evening. The Data Manager will play an integral role when public examination results are released and is therefore expected to work on those days during the summer holidays.

For full details of the role and responsibilities, please see the associated job description, person specification and term and conditions documents.

William Hulme's Grammar School is one of the most over-subscribed schools in Greater Manchester and amongst the most successful comprehensive schools in the country. It is an all-through (3-18) Academy of over 1600 pupils with a wide range of abilities, ethnicities and backgrounds and is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

United Learning schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resources, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.

We are working hard to become a more diverse organisation – which is key to our commitment to bringing out the best in everyone. We welcome applications from everyone committed to this ethos and would particularly welcome applications from black and minority ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented in the Group as a whole. We always appoint on merit.
