An opportunity has arisen at William Hulme’s Grammar School (WHGS) to appoint an experienced and highly capable Facilities Manager to lead its busy site service. Now a 3-18 Academy, WHGS is the most over-subscribed school in Greater Manchester with a long and distinguished history. It has a very inclusive and diverse community with over 40 languages spoken and our school is truly representative of Manchester’s rich multi-cultural heritage. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and particularly those committed to diversity and inclusion.

Reporting to the Principal and Executive Business Manager, the Facilities Manager will have responsibility for the management and operation of all aspects of the school site, including the line management of the Caretaking team.

The successful applicant will most likely have experience of running a complex site, preferably in an educational context. Approachable, level-headed and highly organised, the Facilities Manager will be a key public face of the School, developing and fostering effective relationships with all stakeholders, particularly contractors.

As well as a demonstrable track record of success in facilities management in a comparable organisation, the successful applicant will have strong IT, planning and administrative skills, as well as an ability to communicate effectively at all levels and work under pressure.

Following a huge expansion programme, we offer you an impressive and vibrant place to work with great staff and students, where your passion for children’s development will be valued and where you will find a genuine commitment to continuing and enhancing your professional development.

Standard working hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, all year round. It is to be expected that evening and occasional weekend work will be required as an integral part of the role.

For full details of the role and responsibilities, please see the associated job description, person specification and term and conditions documents.
