SEN Music Teacher
William Morris School, GL10 3SH
Full and Part Time options available
Start Date: Autumn Term 2026
Closing Date: 27th February 2026
Novalis Trust is a charity supporting children and adults with Neurodevelopmental Difficulties and a range of learning needs. At William Morris School, music is a central part of our therapeutic, relational and trauma informed approach. We are now looking for a teacher who can help us take this even further.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a passionate, creative and resilient teacher to lead and develop our Music provision for pupils aged 7-19. Whether you are experienced in SEN or looking to begin your journey in specialist education, we welcome teachers from all backgrounds.
Our pupils love music. What they need is someone who can meet them where they are musically-someone who can tune in to each pupil’s strengths, interests and emotional needs and build learning from there. You will have the freedom to shape meaningful musical experiences that support progress, confidence, wellbeing and enjoyment.
Why This Job Is Special
Music at WMS is creative, flexible and highly personalised. Much of our current teaching is delivered in 1:1 or small group sessions, where staff work from what each pupil brings into the room—musically, emotionally and relationally. We want to maintain this strength while growing our offer to include:
• more opportunities for small group and whole-class music
• increased access to accreditations and qualifications
• musical experiences that build confidence, communication, self expression and social–emotional development
You will also have the opportunity to shape a bespoke music curriculum that reflects the needs of our pupils and ensures music continues to play a central role in school life. Our music room is well-resourced, including two iMacs with Logic Pro X and there is scope to influence future investment.
We work closely with The Music Works in Gloucester, and you will be able to continue and expand this outward facing partnership, supporting pupils’ progression into further study, creative industries and music related careers where appropriate.
As part of wider school culture, you’ll also be key in the development of whole school events such as our Christmas Carol Concert, Summer Festival and cross curricular events.
