Are you an enthusiastic, innovative and ambitious secondary Science Teacher ready to take your next step in a managerial role?

Winchcombe School is looking for a permanent full-time specialist Teacher of Science to lead the Department (of four teaching colleagues and a technician). The ideal candidate will be a good leader and a dynamic teacher; in addition to a science-based degree and the necessary teaching qualifications, you’ll be enthusiastic and able to motivate students to achieve their best. We will consider applications from excellent candidates for whom this will be their first leadership role.

Winchcombe School is part of the Balcarras Trust, which we joined in November 2023. We are a friendly co-educational comprehensive school of just over 500 students aged 11-16 located on the outskirts of a historic town near Cheltenham and surrounded by beautiful Cotswold views. The Science Department benefited from a brand-new laboratory in 2021 as part of a wider multi-million-pound refurbishment of the school’s facilities.

Ofsted graded us as a ‘Good’ school in all areas in March 2022, praising our high expectations, students’ calm and purposeful behaviour and professional development for staff. Our 2022 and 2023 GCSE results were particularly impressive. You’ll find that we’re a welcoming and supportive team. Come to visit us and find out for yourself!

We can offer you:

• An exceptional and friendly working environment

• Continued professional development

• The opportunity to work for an experienced leadership team and successful Trust

• Employee Support Helpline

• Cycle to Work scheme; free parking on site and electric charging points

• Teachers’ Pension enrolment

Do you have what it takes to help the school towards its goal of being outstanding and to ensure that all pupils reach their full potential? If yes, then we would love to hear from you.

You are very welcome to visit the school before submitting your application – please contact our Personnel team to arrange a suitable date/time.

To apply: Please email your application (standard Balcarras Trust form) together with a covering email/letter to the personnel team at Winchcombe School.
