Job Title: Deputy SENCo

Actual Annual Salary: £31,273 - £34,585 (Based on hours and working weeks)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £34,740 - £38,419 (CLF Grade E). Based on 37 hours per week, all year round.

Contract Type: Permanent, Term Time only, plus insets, plus 10 days to be worked during school holidays and closure periods.

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Provisional Start Date: 26 August 2025

We are looking for a Deputy SENCO to join our supportive and talented team at Cabot Learning Federation Post 16. The CLF is a diverse multi-academy trust, looking for professional and ambitious people, with a passion for transforming our students’ learning. 

To be successful in the post, we are looking for a professional who will assist the SENCO in leading and managing the provision of special educational needs and disability (SEND) learning support for identified students in the Academy.  They will be responsible for the day-to-day operational running of the SEND team, maintaining the SEND register, GCSE Exams access provision, the effective use of resources to support high standards of learning and achievement for all students in line with the SEND code of practice.   The postholder will ensure the individual needs of designated students and the requirements of any statements are fully met.  They will deliver measurable impact on student attainment as well as personal and emotional development.  They will be required to deputise for the SENCO in their absence.

About you:

You will have:

  • Relevant NVQ level 3 in education and/or SEN (such as Learning and Development and Support Services for Children, Young People, and Those who Care for Them, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools) or equivalent qualification/ experience.
  • The ability to work with external agencies.
  • An understanding of learning processes, barriers to learning and behaviour management strategies to facilitate delivering learning activities effectively.
  • An understanding of children’s educational and emotional needs
  • Proven experience of working effectively with SEND students, students with additional needs and/or disabilities on an individual basis or in groups.
  • Experience of leading and organising professional meetings
  • Able to work constructively as part of a team, understand classroom roles and responsibilities and own position within these
  • A willingness to secure a Exams Access qualification to assess students for exams access arrangements.

The CLF Post 16 Academy is situated in South Gloucestershire, hosted at John Cabot Academy, and serves the students of Bristol across two local authorities. We are a centre of education for ages 16-19 offering a range of level 1, 2 and 3 vocational courses and a full breadth of A Level qualifications.
