Overview of the role
In order to create an amazing experience for our children, our staff are absolutely critical to our success each and every Holiday.
We are looking for someone who holds a RLSS Lifeguarding/ NRASTC qualification or equivalent.

They understand what it takes to be a role model and know that while working with children is incredibly fun, it is also hard work and challenging. Still, being a Instructor at Discover Activity Camps is one of the most rewarding jobs you will ever have.
Hours, Salary & Benefits
Hours: 7:45am - 5:30pm. Mon - Fri.
Fixed term 0 hour contract.
Pool operating times from 2 hours per day.
Staff will be contacted in advance of each holiday period to confirm availability.
Salary: £15.13 per hour (21 and over) £12.21 per hour (20 and under) Including holiday pay.
Lifeguarding hours: £16.81 per hour including holiday pay.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To be responsible for the overall wellbeing and happiness of the children in your care
- To help deliver a programme of daily activities suitable for the age range of the children in a safe environment
- Being the lifeguard ‘on duty’ for the daily swimming sessions
- Follow activity plans and instructions provided by the Camp Manager
- Lead and supervise a group of children during daily activities, swimming, games, and outings
- To promote the ethos of Discover Activity Camps, providing an exceptional role model to children in your care
- Promotion of exceptional safeguarding practices at all times, including awareness of recording and reporting procedures in accordance with the Safeguarding Policy
- To be responsible for the security of the premises in which activities are undertaken
- To ensure that buildings and rooms are adequately secured upon departure through the use of door codes and locks
- Provide a friendly welcome to all holiday club attendees, meeting and greeting parents, signing children in at the start of the day and out at the end of the day
- Accompany children around the site to different activities, supervising lunch and supervising open play sessions
Experience & Qualifications
- RLSS lifeguard/ NRASTC Swim Teacher
- If you have worked in a Holiday Club environment before that would be great but don’t worry if you haven’t!
- Experience coaching young persons’ sports is desirable.
- We also want to hear about any experience you have delivering other activities such as arts/dance/music/computing/science.
- We would love to hear about any childcare/educational play certificates you may have!
Skills
- You will be able to work in a busy environment as part of a friendly team, interfacing with parents, staff and most importantly the children.
- You will have the ability to adapt to different situations and think creatively.
- Enthusiastic with a genuine passion for working with children.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Holder of Pool Plant certificate (desirable not essential)
