About the Role:
St Edward’s Prep School & Nursery is entering an exciting phase of growth and development. With rising pupil numbers, a strong sense of community and a commitment to delivering an engaging, future-focused curriculum, we are seeking a compassionate and ambitious leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Assistant Headteacher – Pastoral & Inclusion.
This senior leadership role will support SLT in leading behaviour, pastoral care and pupil wellbeing across the school - including pupils’ social, emotional, physical, cultural and economic development - while also acting as the school’s nominated person for SEND and inclusion.
The successful candidate will work closely with SLT to support the maintenance of high standards of behaviour (particularly across Years 3–6), embed consistent pastoral systems and ensure inclusive practice is central to everyday school life.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reflective leader who is passionate about nurturing children and shaping positive school cultures. You will be someone who builds strong relationships with pupils, families and colleagues, who leads with empathy and high expectations and who believes that every child deserves to feel seen, supported and successful.
You may come from a strong pastoral background and be keen to develop your pastoral and SEND leadership (training provided), or you may already be a qualified SENDCo ready to broaden your impact through senior leadership. Either way, you will be excited by the opportunity to influence behaviour, wellbeing and inclusion at a whole-school level, while remaining connected to classroom practice.

Hours, Salary & Benefits:
Hours: Permanent role, full-time
Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 pa
