Polam Hall School wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to the following post:
Behaviour Support and Learning Mentor to work in the Primary Phase of our school.
We require an enthusiastic and experienced individual to work in addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers for learning, including behaviour, in order to achieve their full potential.
We require flexibility as there is a requirement to work both in lesson time and undertake lunch time and small group tutoring.
The post requires the Mentor to work under the direction of the Head of Phase and in line with the needs of the class teacher to:
- Work with pupils whose behaviour, engagement or attendance has a significant impact upon attainment.
- Improve progress and achievement of pupils by helping to minimise barriers to learning working with individuals, small groups or within a whole class setting.
- Actively uphold the values and ethos of the school in all interactions with pupils, and to model the behaviours expected of pupils.
- Respond to the specific learning and or pastoral needs of the pupil(s).
- Be proactive in managing own work load.
A Level 3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification, as a minimum, is required.
Qualifications / experience in this role is essential (please refer to job description and person specification) and candidates ideally will have experience and be able to evidence supporting children from both a behaviour and learning mentor perspective.
This is a 1 year fixed term post (in the first instance).

We have over 720 pupils on roll, with two forms of entry in our Primary Phase and are moving to four forms in our Secondary Phase.
