The Woodard Academies Trust invites expressions of interest to fill the vacant post of independent member of the Education subcommittee, which reports to the full Board of Trustees. This voluntary role is absolutely crucial to provide challenge and expertise to drive achievement within our 6, nationwide academies.

Now is an exciting time for the Trust as it adopts a new vision statement to underpin the launching of a new strategy. The vision statement is expressed in the following six words: “Opening minds; Increasing expectations; Transforming lives.”

A key priority for the Trust is ensuring that all pupils, regardless of background or where they go to school, aim high and have equal access to a high-quality education which equips them with the knowledge, skills and understanding to realise their ambitions.

The successful candidate will have wide experience across the education sector and possess the skills to offer the support and challenge needed to contribute to constructive discussion and effective decision making. Trustees would particularly welcome expressions of interest from candidates with a background in rapid school improvement or teacher training.

The committee meets five times a year, currently remotely.

For an informal discussion about the role, please telephone the main number and ask to leave a message for the governance administrator who will arrange a conversation with the Chair of the Education Committee', direct contact details can be found on the attached 'further information sheet'.

Please complete the attached volunteer application form ensuring each field is completed and set out how your experience and skills would fit you for the role in no more than 500 words. Further information on our academies and a specific volunteer pack can be found on the attached 'further information sheet'.

The closing date is 5.00pm on Friday 4 December 2020.
