Salary: £ 3,211 per annum (FTE £20,903).
Polam Hall School wishes to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to the following post:
Languages Assistant – with a specialism in German (French as an additional subject is desirable).
The successful candidate will be based in the Secondary phase of the school however there may be an opportunity to work across the school with Junior aged children.
We require a fluent German speaker and excellent communicator committed to helping pupils to develop their spoken fluency and written language from initial stages as well as to support with preparation for GCSE.
The ideal individual will be fluent in both spoken and written German and English and skills in spoken and written French will be an added bonus.
We require flexibility as there is a requirement to work both in lesson time and undertake after school tutoring.
The post requires the Languages Assistant to work under the direction of the Languages and Literature Faculty and in line with the needs of the class teacher to:-
• support the delivery of learning for each pupil to enable them to reach their potential, working with individual pupils or small groups or within a whole class setting to support the delivery of high standards of teaching and learning and pupil progress.
• actively uphold the values and ethos of the school in all interactions with pupils, and to model the behaviours expected of pupils.
• respond to the specific learning needs of the pupil(s).
• be proactive in managing pupil behaviour
• undertake tutoring at lunch and after school as required.(any after school tutoring in addition to normal hours is paid separately)
• Work across all secondary key stages.
A Level 3 Teaching Assistant (or teaching) qualification is desirable but not essential.
Qualifications / experience in supporting spoken and written German is essential and in French is desirable and candidates ideally will have experience of supporting children of secondary school age.
This is a 1 year fixed term post ( in the first instance).
