The School:
Built in 2012, The Sir Robert Woodard Academy boasts modern and spacious facilities, such as a fitness suite, theatre and sports hall. It is a thriving 11–18 Academy, serving primarily the students of Lancing, Sompting and West Shoreham, though we welcome students from all surrounding areas. As the school grows in popularity, there is likely to be further expansion and development over the coming years.
Quotes from full Ofsted inspection report October 2021: Rating of “Good” in all areas:
"The school is a calm and orderly place for pupils to learn….Pupils treat each other with respect … low-level disruption is rare."
"Pupils, parents and carers feel proud of their school…one parent told us ‘we are really impressed with the school, the ethos and the staff’.”
The Position:
A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Site Officer to join the Academy and the dedicated Site and Premises Team as soon as possible. We are looking for an individual with a positive demeanour, a ‘can do’ approach and an understanding of the high personal and professional standards required of all staff in schools. Willingness to contribute to the team’s tasks, however unglamorous, is more important than having specific DIY skills. Key tasks in this role include basic maintenance and repairs, porterage, cleaning and litter collection. This would be a perfect opportunity for someone looking to start a career in property maintenance and there is an opportunity to gain a relevant qualification via a paid Apprenticeship. Please review the job description for further details on the role responsibilities.
Staff Benefits:
- free use of the Academy’s fitness suite
- free employee wellness programme and onsite wellbeing support
- generous employer contribution pension scheme of 21.5%;
- free on-site parking and easy access to local public transport
- cycle to work scheme.
The Person:
The successful post-holder will:-
- Be well-presented with strong interpersonal skills
- Have a good level of fitness and flexibility - essential as the role involves walking and manual labour
- Have a good understanding of health and safety and ideally a basic understanding of COSHH
- Display a positive ‘can do’ attitude, be willing and able to multi-task
- Take pride in and actively contribute to keeping the site and grounds clean and presentable
- Be a strong team player who will consistently implement Trust and Academy policies
- Understand the importance of maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
- Relate well to young people and adults alike
- Work flexibly and be comfortable with changing shifts and priorities.
