Due to increasing pupil numbers we are in a very fortunate position to be able to offer a full time Teacher of English role to commence in September 2023
We seek a committed full time English teacher who is enthusiastic, passionate about the subject and has high expectations of all students. We are looking for someone with the ability to teach English at KS3 and to GCSE. At KS3 our curriculum is broad, providing a firm foundation for GCSE, whilst not being constrained by GCSE style questions. All pupils have a weekly lesson in the school library, where our School Librarian and English staff are collaborating to create a positive reading culture, underpinned by the use of Accelerated Reader. At KS4 we use the AQA specification for both English Language and English Literature.
English forms part of our energetic and exciting Languages and Literature Faculty, comprising of a team of professionals who work together and support each other. We are in the process of codifying our curriculum and planning is collaborative. The English staff are all subject specialists and are passionate about both literature and the study of language. Student outcomes in English are strong and we are looking to add further strength to this team. The faculty is ambitious and forward looking – our goal is to ensure that every student loves the subject as much as we do!
The successful candidate will be a reflective practitioner who is able to maximise the potential of all our pupils. They will use teaching and assessment effectively to ensure that all pupils know, remember and can apply key knowledge and skills. We are also looking for a colleague who can make a contribution to the wider life of the school, through extra-curricular clubs, trips and visits.
