Class Teacher – Focus on Science (Part Time, 3 Days per Week)

Woodfield Education Centre @ Carrington (WEC@C)

The Headteacher and Governing Body are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic and inspirational Class Teacher, with a focus on Primary Science, to join our team at Woodfield Education Centre @ Carrington (WEC@C).

WEC@C is staffed and managed by Woodfield School and provides specialist education for pupils aged 11–16 with identified learning and additional needs, including moderate learning difficulties and co-occurring needs. Pupils are supported in a structured, nurturing environment where safety, trust and positive relationships are central to learning.

This is a part-time role (3 days per week, term time), based at WEC@C, and is ideal for a teacher who is passionate about inclusive education and adapting learning to meet individual needs.

About the role

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering a primarily Science-based curriculum, tailored to meet the needs of pupils working at a primary level. While a Science specialism is desirable, it is not essential. Experience or knowledge of OCR Entry Level Science (R483) or equivalent would be advantageous. There may also be opportunities to deliver other subjects where appropriate.

This post is offered on a fixed-term basis initially, with the potential to become permanent subject to funding.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has experience of working with pupils with Special Educational Needs, including pupils with complex needs and trauma-informed presentations
  • Is a strong classroom practitioner who can motivate, engage and inspire learners
  • Can plan and deliver a differentiated, relevant and accessible curriculum
  • Has high expectations of both achievement and behaviour, balanced with empathy and understanding
  • Is committed to breaking down barriers to learning and making learning meaningful and enjoyable
  • Is passionate about inclusion and the life chances of pupils with learning and additional needs
  • Works well as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to holistic pupil support
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with pupils, families, colleagues and external professionals

What we can offer:

  • A supportive, collaborative and welcoming team
  • A trauma-informed, pupil-centred approach
  • Opportunities for professional development
  • A varied and rewarding role within a specialist setting

Salary: Main Pay Scale to Upper Pay Scale (M1–UPS3), Fringe Area rates, plus SEN allowance (£2,787 – £5,497 FTE).

Appointment point will be determined based on experience and role requirements. Pro-rated for 3 days per week (0.6 FTE).

Closing date: 10th March 2026
