Help young people with special educational needs and disabilities build confidence, develop independence and enjoy learning.

Woodfield School is looking for enthusiastic Classroom Teaching Assistants to join our supportive team. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to pupils’ learning and everyday lives in a specialist school for secondary-aged pupils and students in Post-16 provision.

Our pupils have a range of learning difficulties and additional needs. We believe that every young person can make progress with the right support, and our approach focuses on preparing pupils for life and adulthood.

The role

Working closely with teachers and colleagues, you will:

  • support pupils’ learning in class, individually and in small groups;
  • adapt your support to pupils’ different learning and communication needs;
  • help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive relationships;
  • support engagement, wellbeing and positive behaviour;
  • share observations about pupils’ progress with the teaching team; and
  • work flexibly across classes and activities as pupils’ needs and staffing requirements change.

Safeguarding is central to the role. You will maintain professional boundaries, recognise and report concerns promptly, and follow the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

About you

We are looking for someone who is patient, positive and committed to helping young people with SEND succeed.

You will bring:

  • enthusiasm for supporting pupils who experience barriers to learning;
  • the ability to work collaboratively and flexibly within a team;
  • clear communication and strong interpersonal skills;
  • a calm, consistent approach to supporting pupils;
  • high expectations and a willingness to learn; and
  • good literacy and numeracy skills, evidenced by GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above, or equivalent qualifications.

What we offer

You will join a friendly, supportive school where colleagues work together to help pupils achieve their potential. We offer a varied role, opportunities for professional development and a learning environment where pupils are encouraged to feel safe, valued and confident enough to try.

How to apply

Please apply through Eteach using the application form, explaining how your skills and experience meet the job description and person specification. CVs alone will not be accepted.
