If you are committed to excellence, collaboration, and helping every child reach their full potential, we would love to hear from you!

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated class teacher to also take on the vital role of SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator). This is an exciting opportunity to combine high-quality classroom teaching with leading inclusive practices that ensure every child thrives.

In addition to teaching, the SENDCO role involves facilitating and evaluating the implementation of the SEND Code of Practice, including EHCP and EHNA provisions, ensuring full compliance with statutory guidance on special educational needs and disabilities.

This role includes overseeing and tracking all vulnerable students (SEND, EAL, and those with health needs) across the academy, ensuring that each student receives appropriate support and interventions. The successful candidate will work closely with SEND and EAL students to ensure they achieve their potential, receive the necessary statutory support, and have opportunities to succeed. Maintaining and regularly updating the SEND register and provision map is essential. Attendance at pathway meetings and other relevant meetings will also be required.

The postholder will support students entitled to direct funding and coordinate the academy’s applications for Top-Up funding. Effective use of human and financial resources within the Learning Support and EAL Teams is essential. The SENDCO will challenge and support teachers, departments, and curriculum leaders to provide adaptive teaching strategies, ensuring that students with SEND and/or EAL make expected progress. Alongside the Principal, this role represents the academy in matters of SEND and additional needs, liaising with other primary and secondary academy SENDCOs and external agencies, including health, social care, and educational officers, to ensure ongoing professional development.

The role also involves overseeing the transition phase for students with SEND and ensuring that all medical and support needs are met.

About you:

You will be:

  • a qualified teacher or hold an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • able to deliver the curriculum in your chosen area and consistently teach high quality lessons across relevant key stages.
  • able to meet the needs of learners from key identified groups, including pupil premium, looked after children, SEND and High Attaining students.
  • a strong communicator with the ability to embrace change, motivate colleagues and build positive relationships with students, staff and parents.
  • able to recognise, value and support the delivery of opportunities which extend beyond the confines of classroom delivery and seek to enrich and add value to the students experience & learning.
  • empowered to develop your own expert practice and support the development of others.
  • highly competent in all elements of the Teachers’ Standards and your achievements and contribution will be substantial and sustained as an Upper Pay Scale teacher.

Applicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.
