The Priory Learning Trust – proud Somerset Business Award winner for Employer of the Year – is seeking to appoint a Pastoral Support Officer to join our dedicated team at Worle Community School – An Academy, based in Weston-super-Mare. Just five minutes from the M5 and a short trip to the beach, we’re well-connected with excellent public transport links.

This is a vital non-teaching role centred on providing pastoral and academic support to students, working closely with Heads of Year to ensure every young person is safe, supported, and set up to succeed.

Key responsibilities include;

  • Supporting students' personal development: Build positive relationships with students and their parents, providing guidance, encouragement, and a consistent presence. Help with inductions, delivering rewards and recognition, and being a go-to figure for advice and support throughout their school journey.
  • Promoting high standards of behaviour and wellbeing: Monitor student behaviour in line with the school’s expectations. Carry out investigations, speak with students and parents, and support restorative and preventative approaches to help students stay on track.
  • Championing high expectations: Support students in meeting school standards, especially around uniform, attendance, punctuality and behaviour. Help reinforce a culture of respect, accountability, and aspiration.
  • Academic progress tracking: Work with Heads of Year and teaching staff to track student performance. Help gather, review and interpret academic data to identify students who may be falling behind and coordinate targeted interventions.

If you are someone who is passionate about young people, thrives on building relationships, and wants to make a tangible difference in students’ lives every single day then this is your opportunity and we look forward to your application.

At Worle Community School, we work hard to make our students, staff and communities PROUD of Worle. We aim to be:
