Head of Faculty – Business, Economics and Social Sciences
We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and inspiring Head of Faculty to lead and oversee our well-established and high performing Social Sciences team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner ready to take their first steps into departmental leadership, or for an existing Head of Department looking to lead a larger and more vibrant faculty.
The successful candidate will receive strong support and have access to a wide range of professional development opportunities both within and beyond the department. We are looking for someone who shares our commitment to high standards, professional excellence and academic achievement, and who is eager to grow their practice in a collaborative, forward thinking environment. Our departments work closely together, valuing each member’s personality, skills, interests and strengths. A genuine passion for Business, Economics, Psychology or Sociology, a commitment to inspiring young people, and a willingness to go the extra mile to help students achieve their potential are essential. The ability to teach Economics to A Level is required.
Our Business and Economics departments deliver a rich and diverse curriculum that empowers students to think strategically, understand the global business environment, and apply their learning to real world situations. Students develop logical thinking, problem solving abilities and entrepreneurial skills in an innovative and supportive atmosphere.
Business Studies is a popular GCSE choice, with around 40% of Year 11 students studying the subject. In 2025, 81% achieved a grade 4 or above, with 42% attaining grade 7 or higher. At A Level, both Business and Economics are well subscribed and achieved excellent results in 2025, with 94% of Business students and 100% of Economics students achieving A*–C grades.
In Psychology, students explore human behaviour and learn how psychological research supports an ever changing society. Results in 2025 were excellent, with over 89% of A Level students achieving grades A*–C.
In Sociology, students develop curiosity, critical thinking and an appreciation of diversity while learning to understand and challenge the world around them. In 2025, more than 82% of A Level students achieved grades A*–C.
All members of the faculty are subject specialists who are passionate about their disciplines and committed to continually developing their practice. The team works closely together to create high quality resources and provides strong mutual support.
