St Peter's is a renowned successful school and sixth form in Guildford.  We have an exciting opportunity to appoint a compassionate and dedicated part-time Home School Link worker to join our supportive Inclusion team, 15 hours per week.

About St Peter’s:

St Peter’s Catholic School, part of the Xavier Catholic Education Trust, is an extremely successful school and sixth form set in attractive grounds on the outskirts of Guildford, with onsite parking.  Standards are high and academic progress excellent, with very good facilities and resources. Community is a key aspect of our ethos; relationships between students and staff are excellent.  We are also a partner school of Teach Southeast, an initial teacher training (ITT) provider.

About the Inclusion Department & Home School Link worker position:

• Inclusion is a lively and very friendly department which currently has responsibility for around 200 students in Years 7 to 11, and a small number in the sixth form.

• The Home school Link Worker’s role is vital in providing early intervention support and guidance to families as required, to support students’ development and learning.

• The role is a key element in our preventative strategy - supporting parents and children before there is a need for a more intensive intervention from statutory agencies.

• You will provide pastoral and personal support to children and families who are experiencing difficulties in school or at home.  Liaising and establishing good working relationships with external agencies such as Children Services and medical staff.

• The role is for 15 hours a week term time only (39 weeks a year). We envisage that this would be worked across three days, although some flexibility can be offered regarding start and finishing times.

What we can offer you:

• A friendly, supportive environment where best practise is shared to ensure high quality pastoral care and support.

• Excellent personal development.

• An extensive range of benefits and discounts with the Surrey County Council MyBenefits Scheme.

• All staff benefit from free access to Spectrum, Guildford, Sports Centre.  Including the gym, group exercise classes, spa and pool.

About You:

We are looking for a skilled communicator and excellent listener, able to bring about positive resolutions from difficult situations.  Ideally you will have a background in either Health and Social care or extensive experience of working with parents and families. You should have an understanding of the social, emotional and mental health difficulties that our students may face.  With a reputation for honesty, integrity and professionalism, you will be able to build strong, trusting partnerships with students and parents, promoting positive aspirations and students’ self-esteem.

If you are passionate about student welfare and want to really make a difference to the lives of young people then St Peter’s could be the school for you.
