To commence: 1st September 2021

Closing Date: 29th March 2021

Salary: Main Scale / Upper Pay Spine (+TLR for those seeking additional responsibility)

T Levels, new technical courses equivalent to 3 A Levels help to deliver high quality technical education in England, to ensure that young people have the skills they need to move into the fulfilling careers they want. They will enable students to access on-the-job skills training, develop experience and links within their chosen industry and prepare them for future opportunities and apprenticeships.

We are seeking to appoint a Subject Leader for our new T Level in Childcare and Education to start in September 2021. The successful candidate will bring with them passion for their subject area and an ability to engage with students. The T Level will be part of the Social Science Department at Salesian College, a dynamic and progressive department, with learning and teaching at the heart of everything it does. This is shown by the number of students who go on to study Social Science subjects at university. The Social Science department offers a range of subjects including Sociology, Psychology, Health and Social Care and the new T level in Childcare and Education. We are exceptionally proud of our results:

  • 72% A*-B at A2 Sociology
  • 69% A*-B at A2 Psychology
  • 100% D*-M at BTEC Health and Social Care

Our Subject Leader will be responsible for the planning and delivery of the T Level in Childcare and Education which will follow the Cache specification. They will instigate and develop innovative approaches to Childcare and Education that will stimulate all students to achieve their full potential. They would be responsible for liaising and organising industry placements for students. It would also involve the ability to develop teaching resources to meet the needs of students in line with the course aims and objectives.

The school plays a lead role in the Teach South East SCITT and we therefore have opportunities for colleagues at all stages of their career development from NQTs to those seeking positions of responsibility such as mentoring, training and developing others.

We are extremely proud of our department at Salesian and look forward greatly to welcoming a colleague who is as passionate about the progression of our students both academically and spiritually.
