The Design & Technology Department at Salesian
The Design Technology Department at Salesian is dynamic, progressive and has Learning and Teaching at the heart of everything it does. We are passionate about constantly evaluating and improving our pedagogy and we continually strive to offer our students the best possible opportunities for them to develop their skills in design and manufacture using a wide variety of materials and processes. The department consists of 9 members of teaching staff and 3 technicians.
At Key Stage Three we teach in mixed ability groups in Years 7 to 9 as we believe this is the optimum way for all students to make progress. Students experience a broad Technology curriculum that includes Food, Textiles, Graphics, Product Design, Skills and Resistant Materials. Year 10 and Year 11 students select one of four technology options. We currently teach the AQA Design Technology GCSE, AQA Art Textiles, and AQA Art Graphics alongside the WJEC Eduqas Specification for Food Preparation and Nutrition.
We are committed to teacher training and accept PGCE trainees from around London to take advantage of our exceptional training and support. We are always thrilled to receive ECTs for further training believing we benefit as much from their fresh ideas and creativity as they do our guidance and experience.
We are extremely proud of our department, which has state of the art facilities, and look forward greatly to welcoming a colleague who is as passionate about the progression of our students both academically and spiritually, as we are.
