Do you love the workshop environment and the challenge of designing, developing and making products with students at all levels? If so, this is the role for you!
We are seeking a well-qualified and engaging teacher to join our dynamic Design and Technology department made up of passionate specialist teachers. You will be an excellent classroom practitioner, creative and well organised. You will be required to teach across the full ability range within Product Design, Textiles or Food Technology at KS3, KS4 and eventually at KS5. We are looking to recruit a dynamic and inspirational teacher who has excellent subject knowledge and a clear understanding of Health and Safety protocols.
The Design and Technology department is a well-resourced facility with workshops and ICT facilities alongside two Textile studios and two Food kitchens. The workshop facilities have a wide range of equipment including a complete set of hand and machine tools that cover the multidisciplinary nature of the subject. Within the facility are separate prep rooms, which are maintained by two full time technicians. Students have access to ICT facilities within the building and the teaching CAD is integral to all year groups. Students have access to both Laser Cutting and 3D printing as part of KS3, KS4 and KS5.
You will be joining a popular department that is well regarded by both students and staff alike. At KS4, we regularly have 50%+ of the GCSE cohort opting for one of our GCSE specifications, with good progression into A Level. The outcomes are very strong with 100* A-C at A Level and 95%+ 9-4 at GCSE consistently over the last few years. A number of our students continue after A Levels to progress onto higher education routes with degrees in a range of design-based industries. This post would suit an ECT or a more experienced teacher looking for their next challenge.
