Teacher of MFL

Full Time/Part time (min. 0.6 timetable)

Start date – January 2021

St John the Baptist School is seeking to appoint a Teacher of MFL, teaching two languages (French, Italian or Spanish), to join our well established and high performing department.

Due to the continued success of our MFL department, we are seeking to appoint a highly motivated practitioner who shares our commitment to high standards of professionalism and academic achievement and is keen to develop their own practice. The successful candidate will have a genuine passion for the subject and for teaching children; the ability to inspire students; and the desire to go the extra mile to help our students achieve their full potential. The ability to teach to A Level, although preferred, is not required.

This is an excellent opportunity for both NQTs as well as more experienced teachers who are looking to grow and develop their own classroom practice whilst immersing themselves in an environment that is at the forefront of English teaching and pedagogy. The successful candidate will be well supported and have access to significant future professional development opportunities.

All teachers within the Languages Department are subject specialists and are passionate, creative and hard-working teachers. It is an exceptional team; last year 92% of our students gained a grade 4+ (or equivalent) at GCSE. The pass rate at A Level was 100%. All students in Year 7 study three languages through a carousel (French, Spanish and Italian), then select one language to study from Year 8 onwards. All students study one language at GCSE and A Levels are on offer in French, Italian and Spanish. The department is very well resourced with electronic packages, and all rooms have an interactive white board. We pride ourselves on being a friendly, forward thinking team which makes the department a rewarding yet supportive place to work.
