Surrey Secondary School Teaching Assistant Placement
St John the Baptist School is facilitating a number of undergraduate and graduate Teaching Assistant placements across Surrey secondary schools. A placement is a great way to find out more about teaching and is perfect for anyone considering teaching in the future.
There are four key departments available, and we are inviting interested candidates to apply for the department that they are most interested in:
- Science
- English
- Maths
- SEND (Special Educational Needs)
As a Teaching Assistant, you may get involved in the following activities:
- Assist the classroom teacher during lessons, explaining concepts to students individually or in small groups
- Offer tailored support to students who require additional support to reach their full potential
- Assist in marking assessments or homework, providing feedback to students where appropriate
- Assist in setting up lesson resources, activities, or classroom displays
- Observe and report on student behaviour and progress, helping to identify areas where students may need additional help
The full-time placements are paid and will run from 1st September 2025 until 31st July 2026. There will be the opportunity for an additional 3-week internship during June/July 2025.
Interviews will be held at St John the Baptist School, and if successful, applicants will be put in touch with a local secondary school to discuss details of the placement.
