Morley College London is a specialist designated adult education college located in Waterloo. Founded in 1889, we now provide learning opportunities to over 12,500 people every year, specialising in Arts, Culture and Applied Sciences. The Technicians responsibilities will include; purchasing materials, maintaining and repairing equipment, preparing studios for teaching, processing clay and glazes, packing and firing kilns, preparing casting slip and plaster, setting up and taking down student exhibitions, overseeing workshop sessions, supporting students to learn technical processes and skills, maintaining health and safety, working with risk assessment technician to maintain best practice.
The post holder will be required to work one Saturday a month and some evenings until 6pm.
Skill & Qualifications required:
• Degree or relevant professional qualification of equivalent standard
• Proven experience of working as a ceramics and plaster technician in higher education and / or as a ceramics and plaster tutor at HND level or above
• Proven experience of successfully supporting students to develop their mastery of technical processes and skills in a workshop setting outside of and during taught sessions
• Good communication, organization and time-management
