Playworker - The Nest - our after school club for 4 - 8 year olds

The hours : 20 hours a week - 4 hours a day core hours between 2.30 pm – 6.30 pm Monday to Friday - Term Time only (38 weeks) – an additional 4 hours every half term for meetings and planning. Additional hours maybe available.
Salary: £6.46 - 8.72 an hour depending on age, experience and qualifications. All staff receive their statutory holiday entitlement however holidays cannot be taken during term time.
About us: Firm Foundations for Children and Adolescents CIC has been providing After School Care for 20 years. Six years ago we opened The Nest which provides after school care solely for 4 – 8 yr olds. We have been assessed as Outstanding by Ofsted* and places at our club are in demand. We are based at Archdeacon Cambridge's School by Twickenham Green and currently care for children who go to Stanley and Trafalgar Schools as well.
*As an after school club we not not need to meet the learning and development requirements of the Statutory framework for the EYFS
About the job: You will work as part of an established team to provide the very best child care and play experiences for the children we look after. We aim to provide a home from home. We are committed to providing a Covid-safe environment for staff, children and families. You will need to follow clear guidance and procedures whilst carrying out your work which will minimise the risk of anyone within our community contracting Coronavirus.
Your work will include
keeping the children safe, collecting children from school, setting up interesting things for them to do, supporting their play, organising the children during tea time ensuring, develop good table manners and eat a nutritious balance of food, tending to grazes and helping them to resolve arguments, communicating with parents and carers, planning and evaluating with the team.
About you: You will need to be literate in English and numerate so you can help keep records. You need to be a good team player. Some experience working with children with additional needs would be an advantage. You will have GCSE grade C/4 (or equivalent or above) in English and Maths. You will have volunteered or worked with children in a group setting. You will be interested in your own professional development with a desire to acquire further skills through training. You will enjoy being busy, active and creative. You will need plenty of common sense.
Required: An enhanced DBS, reference checks and a medical declaration will be required (cost to be covered by us). You must be entitled to work in the UK. There will be a probation period for this post of 3 months.
