ANIMAL CARE TECHNICIAN
Weekends and Holidays, 111 days per annum (2 hours per day)
Rate of Pay: £8.44 per hour
We are looking to appoint a committed Animal Care Technician to take a pro-active role in the daily care and welfare of a range of animals within our small school-based farm. Applicants should have a genuine interest in the care of animals, with a hard-working approach and the ability to organise and carry out daily routine tasks, in line with school procedures.
Our animals need to be cared for 365 days a year and the successful applicant needs to be reliable, trustworthy and conscientious. During term time, the care of the animals is covered by our Animal Care Teachers. This role is required to ensure school holidays (including weekends) and bank holidays are covered so that our animals are cared for daily by a responsible and caring person. Some flexibility can be offered to cover annual leave.
Tasks will include duties such as feeding, cleaning out animal pens and cages and the potential to care for sick animals, as required. This role will also involve working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions so a flexible approach is necessary both with regards to duties and the working hours. As this role will involve lone working and locking/unlocking of the site, this position is only open to applicants over the age of 18.
