Animal Education Centre Technician (2 Positions - Full Time, Permanent)
The College is seeking to appoint 2 Animal Education Centre Technicians: Companion & Domestic, to contribute to the College’s licensed Animal Education Centre.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day care and husbandry of the animals housed on the Companion and Domestic section of the AEC. The section consists of species such as ferrets, rats, mice, gerbils, goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits, emu and chickens.
The key responsibilities of the role are developing and maintaining high standards of husbandry and animal welfare as well as the direct supervision of students during their practical sessions and skills development.
As an AEC technician: Companion and Domestic you will be expected to have proven knowledge and experience of working with a range of domestic small mammals / birds and experience of working with young people. You should have a forward thinking and progressive approach to animal training and enrichment.
An important element of the role is ensuring that the student experience is both positive and rewarding. To meet this aim it is essential the post holder has a clear commitment to providing high quality support to our learners as well as demonstrating exceptional standards of animal welfare.
