Apprenticeship and Commercial Manager (Construction and Engineering). APCO. Full Time. Permanent.

Due to a curriculum re-structure an exciting and rewarding position has become available within the College’s Apprenticeship and Commercial Activity Department. The Apprenticeship and Commercial curriculum area is one of the largest in the College, with income targets in excess of £5 million as it rapidly transitions from frameworks to standards. The area is working hard to improve timely achievement rates and this is one of 3 new management roles, all of which will report directly to the Director of Apprenticeships and Commercial Activity (APCO). The successful candidate will have a clear focus on delivering effective and efficient apprenticeship programmes.
The successful candidate will demonstrate significant skills, knowledge and behaviours linked to the Construction and or the Engineering and Manufacturing industry. They will have experience of leading a team to successful outcomes and have a can do approach to their work. They will have experience of managing apprenticeship programmes across Construction and/or Engineering from intermediate apprenticeships (Frameworks and Standards) up to and including Higher Level Apprenticeships.
You will be proactive in coaching staff, monitoring performance and offering support in order to enhance the quality of provision and raise the achievement rates of our apprentices. Your approach will be student and employer -centred and clearly focussed on their achievement.
You will have a degree or equivalent, together with a background working within the Construction or Engineering industry, including leading a team. You will also be educated to a Level 2 minimum in Maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above, GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent). Also the successful candidate will need to hold a Level 5 Teaching Qualification and an Assessor qualification.
If you have experience of working within this area, in the management of employer based programmes and apprenticeships and have the ability to teach across Construction/Engineering programmes, either the underpinning academic skills related to the curriculum offer, or you can demonstrate practical occupational competency and knowledge, then we would like to hear from you. A ‘can do’ approach to challenges will typify your attitude, as will enthusiasm and flexibility. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, together with the vision and drive to make a success of this demanding but rewarding role.
